Dulverton Redevelopment
Dulverton’s charm undoubtedly lies in a myriad of historic architectural spaces. The building dates back to the C13th and has been a much-loved Sixth Form Centre for generations of King’s students. Now, however, the spaces are small, tired and unsuited to the aspirations of our students. We plan to completely re-develop Dulverton to make it fit for future learning and the King’s community is being given an opportunity to play a part in its transformation.
The aims of the redevelopment are:
- To restore and expose many architectural features, to preserve them for generations to come.
- To create larger, brighter open spaces to inspire students and allow better flow through the building.
- To provide opportunities for students to work together, independently and in a flexible, modern workspace to prepare them for the world of work.
- To separate the social space (on the ground floor) and the learning space (on the first floor).
- To create a Sixth Form kitchen and café, which will offer a range of hot and cold drinks and refreshments throughout the day.
- To modernise the services within the building, including lighting, heating, wi-fi, electrical supply, IT facilities, CCTV and plumbing.
- To create a south-facing, landscaped patio with cathedral views where pupils can relax and chat
