On the 4th March, pupils from Class 4 to 10 went on their first ever school trip – to The Ramappa Temple, an UNESCO heritage site, which is over 800 years old and made using sand block technology. The Dornakal fundraising day, held at King's last summer, paid for the trip.

The temple is unusual because it is named after the sculptor rather than the deities. They also went to the lakes at Palampet and enjoyed a boat trip as well as visiting Warangal Fort for a light show.

The trip began at 5.00am and the Bishop’s Chaplain blessed them before they set off in a coach.  They stopped for traditional eggs for breakfast at 7.30am and reached the temple at 12.00pm. The pupils were treated to chicken biryani in the evening – the dish considered most special in Telangana.

Arun Kumar described how the children were so excited and so overjoyed by the whole experience. They have talked about it all week and the younger ones have drawn pictures of their trip.

Arun Kumar wrote to us: ‘On behalf of the students and staff of DDEM School, Dornakal, my deepest gratitude to the King’s School for their love, affection, concern shown towards us.’

On Saturday 18th March, King’s musicians and singers are performing in a concert in Holy Trinity Church, Church Road, Longlevens in Gloucester at 6pm to raise further funds on behalf of the DDEM School. Everyone is welcome and seats can be reserved here.
