King's School Community Partnerships Celebrated
The King’s School’s community partnerships are celebrated in Parliament
The King’s School was highlighted in a House of Lords event celebrating thousands of successful collaborative projects taking place between state and independent schools across the UK. The event brought together MPs, peers, and representatives from across the education sector.
The ‘Celebrating Partnerships’ event, hosted by Lord Lucas on Tuesday 5 November 2024, recognised the many ways in which schools from different sectors collaborate to create educational opportunities for all pupils and staff involved.
Guests were presented with copies of the ISC’s 2024 Celebrating Partnerships report, which showcases just a few examples of the many meaningful partnerships that exist today. The report features The King’s School, Gloucester, which has for four years hosted the Gloucester City Holiday, Activity and Food programme – a scheme designed to make sure children and young people are entertained, active, educated, safe and fed during the school summer holidays.
David Morton, Headmaster at The King’s School, Gloucester, said: “King’s is a 483 year-old educational charity located at the heart of the city of Gloucester. Working in partnership with the local community is one of the School’s core values. Whether this be raising money for local or international charities, pupils volunteering, inviting community groups to share our facilities, or running music, science and sport workshops for children from local primary schools, we are proud of the contribution we have been able to make to the local community across our city and county.”
