A warm welcome for Dr Hyde, General Secretary of HMC
This week we welcomed Dr Simon Hyde, General Secretary of HMC (the Heads’ Conference), to our school.
HMC - the Heads’ Conference - is an association of Headteachers drawn from some of the world’s best schools. Currently, 300 Heads in the UK and Ireland are members of HMC, with another 60 international members. A rigorous accreditation process helps to ensure quality and HMC schools are all committed to outreach and partnership work. HMC works to encourage and share innovation both within and outside the independent sector as well as to promote and protect the independence of our schools.
On arrival Dr Hyde was given a guided tour of King's by the Heads of School, Imogen and Patrick, where subjects discussed included the hard-working Choristers (Patrick was a former Chorister), the aspirations of the pupils when they leave King's, the forthcoming School production (Imogen has one of the leading parts) and our partnerships work.
Dr Hyde was particularly fascinated by the unique artwork in our Sixth Form Centre, which encourages pupils to 'Think Differently', and was delighted with the welcome he received from the staff and pupils he met during his visit, saying,
"I visited King's Gloucester and had one of the warmest welcomes I have ever had in a Sixth Form centre, some fantastic young people there, and my guides were exemplary."
We look forward to welcoming Dr Hyde back to King's in the future.
