On 19th and 20th March, King’s hosted a visit of 54 students and 9 accompanying teachers.  It was a wonderful visit. King’s Lower Sixth were superb in welcoming them, taking them on a tour around the School and Cathedral.

On Wednesday morning they came to Chapel. Mr Pennington played the traditional Japanese Cherry Blossom song, ‘Sakura’ on the organ and Mrs Hobbs and some of our Year 7 pupils gave a wonderful assembly.

The Showa High School treated our pupils to a wonderful cultural presentation. They performed songs and gave a presentation on their school.  One of the girls performed an amazing traditional dance with fan, to ancient Japanese music.  Another performed Kendo – a martial art using sticks with one of her teachers, very exciting if a little dangerous! Then everyone came together to practice origami and traditional calligraphy, Japanese brush stroke painting,

The visitors also spent time with our pupils discussing Japanese culture and life. Our visitors were treated to delicious food at lunchtime and wonderful cakes and cookies.  It was a very special time and Mr Mikano-White complimented our students for their welcome, gentleness and politeness. He said it was the best visit.  Thank you to everyone who was involved.
