Christmas News from Dornakal
The DDEM school in Dornakal officially re-opened at the end of October. Eighteen pupils came on the first day and each week the numbers have been increasing. There are now 60 pupils and more families are enquiring about places.
There is a new Principal, Mrs Vijaya Kodirekka. Mr Shekhar Bob retired at the end of August. Mr Shyam Kiran is the new lead teacher. The school has had to begin again following almost two years of lockdown. It has been redecorated; new playground and classroom equipment has been purchased as well as two computers, musical instruments and games equipment. Uniforms have been ordered. Two new teachers have been appointed for the Primary years.
King’s has a weekly zoom call with Bishop Padma Rao, Mrs Vijaya Kodirekka and Mr Shyam Kiran at the DDEM School, which is helping to rebuild the partnership after such a difficult time. Bishop Padma Rao and the DDEM School pray daily for the King’s Community and the people of Gloucester. Everyone in Dornakal wishes King’s a very Happy Christmas.
This week the DDEM School informed King’s of the 15 pupils they have selected for sponsorship. This includes all school fees, lunch, uniform, text books, stationary, hostel fees. You can meet the 15 pupils here.
The DDEM School and the families are delighted with the love and generosity that the King’s Community has shown. It will change the lives of these children in so many ways.
King’s pupils are sending Christmas letters and cards to pupils at the DDEM School.
There will be a hot chocolate event with cakes and cookies for sale at break time on January 7th – proceeds to go to Dornakal for emergency ration kits for poor families run by the Sixth Form.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas and a very happy New Year on behalf of the King’s Dornakal Partnership.
