On Thursday 5th December we welcomed Mrs Mineko Mashimo, Head Teacher of the Showa High School in Tokyo.  We have had regular visits from students every March for over 15 years, and this is the first visit of their Head Teacher. She was accompanied by Mrs Midori Endicott from the Cotswolds Wind Academy.

They met with David Morton and discussed education at King’s and at the Showa High School.  We are both looking forward to deepening our partnership and looking at ways we can link the Sixth Forms together. Mrs Fayter took them on a tour of the School and Cathedral.  A highlight of their visit was having lunch with Junior School and Mrs Heather Keyte and talking in Japanese with Ravi.

Mrs Mashimo said,

"The visit was an absolutely wonderful time for me, thank you to you, everyone, the children, and the Headmaster. The young boy learning Japanese on Duolingo is delightful as well. I hope his linguistic talent, inherited from his parents, will flourish. Above all, I was deeply impressed by the excellence of your school’s education. I sincerely hope that the exchange between your school and ours will continue for many years to come."
