All School International

After over 17 years of running the partnership with Dornakal and looking at retirement in the summer, I am stepping back from my role with our partner school, the DDEM School in India and I am delighted to tell you that Mrs Heather Keyte is going to take over the role of International Links in January. The Bishop of Dornakal, Bishop Padma Rao, his secretary Mrs Norah Prithviraj and Mr Arun Kumar and Mr Shyam Kiran from the DDEM School welcomed her last week. I will still have my role as The Diocese of Gloucester International Link Officer with the Diocese of Dornakal so I won’t disappear completely.

This coming year we are going to raise money to replace two asbestos roofs at the DDEM School, in Dornakal, India, one of which has a gaping hole; the other is part of one of the student hostels. We will have a concert on Tuesday 25th February from 6pm to 9pm with an interval. We will also raise money through 'Buy a tile for Dornakal – £2.00'. The concert is an all school concert, involving Junior School right through the Senior School to Mr Scard’s Rusty Tubs and will include singing, rock music, strings, Y6 boys band and more.  It will be an evening of fun.  We will tell you more next term. The concert is being led by Tabby Robbins of Lower 6th who is doing a fantastic job.

All is well with the DDEM School. They wish everyone a very Happy Christmas.  At the moment, they are enjoying Christmas events, singing carols, having a Christmas evening with fun, food and laughter. After a summer of dengue fever and floods, it is good to hear good news.

We look forward very much to their visit in May to King’s which was postponed in September.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas and thanking you all for your wonderful support for Dornakal.

Mrs Penny Fayter
