Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts 2023
King’s pupils from the Junior and Senior School have enjoyed wonderful success in singing, dancing, drama and piano classes at the recent Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts.
All of our singers represented the school fantastically well. The standard was very high and unusually consistent, and every singer from King's gave an excellent performance; they should all be extremely proud of their achievements. In particular, Skye (Yr 5) and Eliza (Yr 7) won their classes, with Wayland (Yr 6), Bella (Yr 7), Eimen (Yr 7) and Skye again coming 2nd and Bella also achieving 3rd in another class. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to perform in what were very competitive classes. Special thanks to our Head of Singing, Ms Jenny Walker, and to our school accompanist, Ms Pippa Harrison.
Sabrina (Yr 4) and Henry (Yr 8) won their piano classes with Conrad (Yr 8) and Wilbur (Yr 3) taking second places and Sophie (Yr 3) coming third in her class.
A number of pupils also entered Drama classes, with Ruby-Jane (Yr 7) winning the Paddy Grimshaw Cup for Prose Speaking and Orla, Sophia, Sophie and Cara (all Yr 7) coming 2nd in their group competition.
Eliza (Yr 7) competed in classes across Music, Drama and Dance winning several medals. She was also awarded the B M Schneider Cup for winning the Year 7 and 8 Classical Singing class and was also chosen by the adjudicators for the Kellie Talbot Cup for showing the most future potential and promise across all areas of dance.
Nina (Yr 13) competed in a number of Dance classes and was awarded the Senior Aggregate Cup and Family Cup for achieving the highest mark, for 15 years and over, across six solos. She was also awarded the Garcia Trophy for gaining the highest mark across all Lyrical Modern solos.
