Laud House Charity
This year, Laud House are supporting the Dean Farm Trust Charity.
The charity rescues animals that have been saved from situations which include slaughter, neglect or abuse and provide them with a home.
The charity rescues farm animals such as donkeys, pigs and chickens and was set up in 2004 by Mary Frankland, who fund raised for years, after feeling compelled to do more to save animals from suffering and to educate others.
The trust is located in Chepstow and is home to over 130 animals. They hold lots of events and open days throughout the year to raise money for the charity. They rely on volunteers to help around the farm and with fundraising and materials
It has recently been revealed that two calves who were rescued by Dean Farm Trust last year, had been in episode three of Meat the Family on Channel 4. They had been looked after by a family learning about where meat comes from and were lucky to be saved and rescued by the sanctuary. Along with all the other residents, they will live out the rest of their lives being cared for at Dean Farm. Some animals who are rescued have never been outside before, until they reach the charity and freedom.
