Junior School Foundation Day gives us the opportunity to reflect on our heritage, values and celebrate our acheivements over the last year - and what a year!

We started with Ella, a Chorister, who gave us a few highlights of the Chorister year and what we can expect to look forward to at the forthcoming Three Choirs Festival to be held in Gloucester in July.  Bertie then beautifully played 'Share my Yoke' by Joy Webb, on the cornet.

Mrs Beard described some of the many foundations set in Little King's this year; from science week to the lifecycles of frogs and butterflies, to learning all about the seasons and different faiths - the children have enjoyed every minute which who of inspired them for years to come.

Our House Captains (Katie, Jamie and Millie) looked at our values of integrity, respect and the importance of our cultural heritage and our younger children proudly wore t-shirts describing our King's SMART values. Wayland celebrated all the musical achievements and Ella played 'Bagatelle' by Beethoven on the piano.

Ruby celebrated dance and drama, in particular the fabulous productions of Porridge by the Shells, Creepy Crawlies by Little King's, a Journey through Time by the Transitions and Back to the Future by the Preps. George then gave a performance of 'I tried to do my homework' by Kenn Nesbitt.

George then talked about creativity, highlighting the critical thinking skills, debating and making sensible choices, especially when it comes to food choices, which was a key theme of Good Food Week.

Ethel celebrated our sport successes in cross country, swimming, rugby, hockey, football, netball, cricket and athletics and Scarlet said a huge thank you to all the fabulous team of teaching assistants, teachers and non teaching staff, without whom we would not have acheived the ISI excellent rating or the glowing comments from parents in the RS Academics survey.

Heathcliff talked about the value of responsibility - pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and development, as well as for their impact on the wider community - and also the importance of leadership. Alec played 'L'Orage' on the piano.

Finally, Chloe talked about service to others and the many events we have had to raise money for the charities we support or to work with others in our local community, whether that be donating food at Lent for the Foodbank, wearing our Christmas Jumpers in aid of Save the Children or hosting children from other Primary Schools for a Science Challenge or Orchestra in an Afternoon.

We presented the House Cups, with Simpkin taking the trophy this year, and awarded the annual prizesfor excellence in the classroom as well as the final Head's Prize to Wayland; a truly deserving candidate who has come a long way over his years at King's and is an all round 'good egg' and King's SMART role model.

All the King's Voices came together to perform 'Electricity' before Mrs Haas said her final farewell to the Upper Shell Class of 2023.
