Keystone Challenge inspires Joseph to raise funds for local charities
Congratulations to Joseph in Year 4 for taking his fund-raising total to over £1,500 after putting his ‘Entrepreneurial Keystone’ challenge to the test.
The Keystones programme is an enrichment activity which encourages our Junior School pupils to undertake a series of Academic, Pastoral and Co-Curricular challenges above and beyond what they achieve in School.
The Entrepreneurial Keystone has inspired Joseph to devise a series of money making ideas to help local charities.
The first was in Lower Transition, when Joseph wrote a story about two Aliens who befriended a spaceman who landed on their planet, which he sold to family and friends and raised money for ‘HaVinG’ – the Gloucester based homeless charity. The sequel was about what happened when the Aliens tried to visit the spaceman on Earth, which raised money for Winston’s Wish. A third instalment entitled ‘The Aliens’ Tricky Jungle Tangle’ last year saw the Aliens land in the Rainforest. This was a real best-seller and raised £1,045 for Gloucestershire Bundles, a charity providing emergency items for pregnant women and families with young children who find themselves in difficulties.
But it did not stop there. Putting his ‘Entrepreneurial Keystone’ idea into practice over the Easter holidays, Joseph used Easter eggs, mini eggs and £1 worth of Shredded Wheat to make chocolate nests, which he sold to raise another £30.17 for Gloucestershire Bundles.
Joseph was told his donation will be used to buy new mattresses for cot beds for babies, and now, after asking Dawn and Stacey at Bundles what else he could do, Joseph has started his own ‘Summer Sun Cream and Sponge Appeal’ with £30 from his own pocket money savings to help Bundles’ recipients this Summer.
Well done Joseph.
