King's Citizenship Award presented to Daisy and Elodie
Dr Suzie Imber, our Speech Day guest of honour, presented this year's Citizenship Award to sisters Daisy (Year 9) and Elodie (Year 7), for the incredible efforts they have made bringing their community together during Covid and beyond.
Daisy has been writing, printing and delivering a newspaper to the residents of her street. She has arranged for a pizza van to visit, organised Christmas light displays on the houses, a street art gallery, organised a dog show, raised money for charity and, most impressively, co-ordinated a foodbank collection of over 500 items which she packed and delivered to the Cheltenham Foodbank.
The residents have said how the street has been brought together and how the newspaper and other activities have helped to make the older residents feel less alone. Daisy has also been nominated for a BBC Make a Difference Award in the ‘Great Neighbour Category’.
Elodie jointly receives the award for supporting her sister, Daisy. These include organising a Dog Show, which raised £200 for a charity for retired police dogs, arranging a pizza van to visit, a Christmas light display and a street art gallery.
In addition, Elodie has helped to co-ordinate the collection for the Cheltenham Foodbank. She has also raised £160 for The Donkey Sanctuary through a bake sale.
Daisy and Elodie have been wonderful ambassadors for the school and their volunteer work has made a huge impact on the lives of those in their local community.
