Christmas Holiday Activities and Food Programme
The Gloucester Holiday Activities and Food programme returned for four days between Monday 20th December and Thursday 23rd December and once again Thomas Franks cooked meals to be distributed to families across the city.
This follows the success of the summer programme, when we worked with the local charity, Venture: White City, and cooked over 16,000 meals.
On Monday 20th December we hosted a Christmas Party in the School Hall for 50 children which included a petting farm, games, songs, a magician, an appearance by Father Christmas and a lovely two course Christmas lunch, served to the children and helpers. King’s pupils and their families helped to prepare and serve the meals and also donated a gift for each child.
Headmaster, David Morton, said “I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our staff, pupils and their families. One of the key aims at King’s is to teach pupils to become kind and compassionate and they have recognised the greater needs in the wider Gloucestershire community and responded with enthusiasm and thoughtfulness”.
