Students volunteer at Milestone School

King’s Sixth Form has developed a link with The Milestone School in Gloucester and three Lower Sixth pupils, Imogen, Caitlin and Olly visit the School once a fortnight, as part of their Future Skills studies.

Milestone School is an outstanding school for pupils with complex disability needs aged 2-16.  Their aim is to remove obstacles and enable access to learning and develop life skills and as much independence as possible, through personalised and appropriate support.

The King’s Sixth Form students work with different ages of pupils, assisting during lessons, encouraging interaction, or spend time playing with the pupils.

This partnership with Milestone School is part of King’s wider involvement in the community, through volunteering and fund-raising initiatives.

The partnership at Milestone School is mutually beneficial with the school receiving extra support and the students developing in self-confidence and gaining a wider understanding of the world in which we live.”
