Staff and pupils were honored to meet Sir Dermot Turing, nephew of Alan Turing the Bletchley Park cryptanalyst when he came into School on14th September.

Dermot gave our Sixth Form pupils a fascinating insight on how the Enigma machine was broken in advance of his talk at the annual Gloucester History Festival.  He explained the role that the Polish Engineers played in solving the hardware dilemma, which Dermot described as "the most amazing feat of code breaking in the 20th Century".  Which, when combined with Bletchley Park solving the software dilemma, went on to defeat the German Army in WWII.
