British School's Pistol Qualifier
A long but successful day was spent in Leatherhead at the British School’s Pistol Qualifier, yesterday. The King’s School fielded a senior team consisting of Jack Harvey, Matt Baker and Cressie May. All members of the team acquitted themselves very well, coming fourteenth, eleventh and seventh, which resulted in The King’s School finishing in Bronze medal position. This is especially impressive considering that the pupils have never shot in this format before (they all shoot for Pony Club Tetrathlon, which is organised very differently.). Unfortunately, only one team qualified for national finals, so there will be no repeat team performances, this year.
However, Matt Barker made it through to the individual finals, because he was in the top eight scorers, and he took part in a nerve wracking but thrilling elimination-style final, finishing in fifth place. Excitingly, this means that Matt has qualified for the national finals in January.
