The Delancey UK Schools' Chess Challenge is the World's largest Chess Competition for children, with over 40,000 children taking part from almost 1,300 schools.

On Saturday 12th May, King's School hosted the Gloucestershire Megafinal with over 100 children taking part and the King's chess team had a particularly successful day.

In the Junior section Freddie came 3rd in the U7 section, Jack came 3rd in the U11 section and Billy gained 2nd place in the U10 section and qualified for the Gigafinal. In the Senior section Toby and George both gained joint 3rd place in the U12 section and Eleanor won the 15-18 section and qualified for the Gigafinal.

King's School has a vibrant chess club and we always welcome new players. As well as having fun and making friends, pupils develop critical thinking skills, build confidence, independence and resilience.
