Senior Sports Awards Dinner 2022
On 24th June the Senior Sports Dinner was held at the iconic Gloucester RFC, 1873 Ricoh Lounge at Kingsholm Stadium.
After such a challenging last couple of years it was fantastic to have 90 pupils, staff and guests attending the event. The facilities were superb and we are certainly hoping to continue running the event at the stadium in the future. Not only did we change the venue but also the time of year which it is held, enabling us to reflect on the whole sporting year. The evening comprised of a meal, speeches, presentations and a disco. The Captains and Heads of Sports gave their highlights of their respective sports and the awards below were presented by our Guests of Honour.
Our Guests of Honour this year were: Mr Ben Morgan (Gloucester RFC and England International), Mr James Forrester (Former Gloucester RFC, England International and current Gloucester-Hartpury Women’s RFC coach) and Miss Neve Jones (Gloucester-Hartpury RFC and Ireland International).
Having both James and Neve attend the dinner was particularly significant as it was officially announced by Mr Phillips, Director of Sport, that King’s is starting an exciting new partnership with Gloucester-Hartpury Ladies RFC in September 2022. We will be launching a girls' rugby activity as an afterschool club which will be a great addition to the current sports clubs available at King’s. Ben also provided a fascinating insight into his rugby experiences as part of a Q&A session that concluded the formal element of the evening.
A special 'thank you' goes to our sponsors for the evening, Inspiresport, and we are very much looking forward to travelling to Portugal with them on our Senior Sports Tour in December 2022.
