New classrooms for King's
With the new school year well underway, we are pleased to be able to provide an update on some of the work that we carried out in school over the summer, as part of our continued commitment to improve and expand our facilities to enhance our educational offering.
The school has taken a lease with the Cathedral on a new building at 7 College Green, which has been completely refurbished over the summer and now features six bright, newly-equipped classrooms for Geography, Business and Economics.
7 College Green has a rich history, with parts of the building known to date back to the fourteenth century, when it was believed to be part of the monastic buildings of St Peter’s Abbey. Since then, it has served as a residence to Canons of Gloucester Cathedral, as well as Archdeacon Walter Wardle (after whom Wardle House is named), before it was converted to use as a study centre by Redcliffe College in 2016. With stunning views of Gloucester Cathedral, this will be an inspirational space for our pupils to learn in.
In addition, the basement of Palace has also undergone a complete refurbishment, both improving the appearance and facilities. New lockers have been fitted in the corridor and the Maths department have now moved into three newly-created classrooms, which have replaced the old bag rooms.
