NO squashed tomatoes!
Pupils were set a challenge over the school holidays to design, build and test a way of moving tomatoes that won't squash them. This challenge was based on a real life problem affecting people in Nepal.
Pupils brought in their incredibly creative designs and showed them to the whole of the Junior School. The designs were made from a variety of materials including Knex, cardboard, canes, insulation pipes, egg boxes, and many other objects found around the house.
First prize went to Emma Downton (Upper Shell - Y6) for a resourceful and innovative idea of using goats to transport the tomatoes. Second prize was awarded to Fred Wyman (Upper Shell- Y6) for using a pulling system, transporting the tomatoes in a shuttle and Katya Cleland-Moore (Upper Transition - Y2) received third prize for using a motor to control the ascent and descent.
