The Aliens by Joseph
Joseph, a Year One pupil in King's Junior School, wrote and beautifully illustrated a story entitled 'The Aliens'. It tells the tale of what happens when a young alien named Jon comes across a human on his way to school one morning. Frightened by the experience he runs away and when he reaches school, everyone in his class laughs at him. That is everyone except his best friend Tim, and when their teacher tells them about Planet Earth and that humans can be nice, Jon and Tim decide to go together to meet him.
Just as the teacher said, the human, who tells them his name is Jamie, is kind to Jon and Tim and shows them around his space ship. They all have a wonderful time and lots of fun so when they tell the class the next day everyone wants to see Jamie the human, and his flying machine. But Jamie has to get back to earth, so will they be in time?
Joseph then sold his book to family and friends, raising £100 for the local charity HaVinG, which supports homeless and vulnerable people in Gloucestershire.
Joseph presented the cheque to Martin Henshaw, the Chair of Trustees of the charity, at Gloucester Cathedral who was so delighted with Joseph's initiative that he offered to give Joseph, and some of his friends, a personalised tour of the Cathedral Tower.
