Last Tuesday Lower Transition went to Over Farm for the day. We had great fun learning about the farm machinery, including a seed planting machine, which the farmers use to plant thousands of pumpkin seeds. All of the children had a turn sitting on Henry, the famous Over Farm blue tractor, too!

We trudged across fields and picked rhubarb, as well as looking at other crops such as corn and asparagus. After lunch we looked at the animals, the highlight being an enormous Gloucester Old Spot pig that sneezed all over us! We also fed donkeys, goats and sheep. We went into the farm shop to look at the special symbols on the fruit that is sold there. A tractor means it is grown on the farm, a Union Jack flag means it comes from the UK and a globe means it comes from another country.

It was interesting to find apples that had traveled 11,000 miles from New Zealand! We were then allowed to go and pick a few strawberries each and gobbled them up! The day finished with a bumpy tractor ride back to the minibuses. We had a fantastic time and the rain did not dampen our spirits!
