House Charities Fundraising Day
Today we held our first 'House Charities Fundraising Day' of the academic year for our newly appointed charities.
Wheeler have selected 'Heart Heroes', who work to support families of children living with congenital heart disease and heart problems.
Serlo have selected 'Acorn's Hospice' who provide a network of specialist palliative nursing care and support for babies, children and young people aged 0-18 who have life limiting or life threatening conditions and associated complex needs.
Laud have selected 'Dean Farm Trust' who are an animal sanctuary committed to raising awareness about sick, ill treated and unwanted animals that may have been subjected to factory farming/sport.
As well as it being Mufti day to raise funds, the senior school pupils have also been selling hot chocolate and cookies which turned out to be very popular on this grey November day!
A 'Penny War' is running in the library to raise money and earn house points! Each house started with an empty jar at the beginning of the week and the aim of the game is to fill your jar with copper coins and pounds (1p, 2p or £1) to earn points. Pupils can then sabotage other house jars by giving them silver coins which equate to negative points (50p= minus 50 points). The jar with the most points at the end of the week will earn 5 house points and all of the money collected will be donated to the chosen charities.
