The World of Museums Enrichment Event

During Enrichment this week, the students found out about the world of museums.
They had a whistle-stop tour of their history from their beginnings at the Library of Alexandria through to the specialist museums of today, including zoos (Yes, zoos are a type of museum if you think about it!).
Students then listened to guest speaker, Adam Grime, Collections Assistant at the Cotswold Motoring and Toy Museum, talk about his role in the everyday life of an industrial museum and Mrs Grime spoke briefly about her work as an archivist in a local town museum.
The enrichment ended with a practical session on how to accession and care for objects in a museum and students then presented ordinary items as museum pieces with labels and plans for display.
