Jumping for joy - superb results across a broad range of GCSEs for King's pupils
Pupils at King’s School Gloucester are celebrating some of the school’s best ever GCSE results. It is particularly impressive that 21% of these grades were 9 or 8 (A*) and 38% of grades were top passes at grades 9-7 – well above the national average of 20%.
Mr David Morton, Headmaster, commented
“We are very proud of our hard-working Fifth Form pupils. King’s prides itself on being an inclusive school which welcomes pupils with a wide range of academic abilities. Behind the headlines are also some inspiring personal stories of resilience and perseverance which results alone do not reflect. This year’s GCSE pupils have balanced their academic work with participation in all the co-curricular opportunities available to them - whether that be on the sports field, in performing arts, trekking across the Malverns on a D of E Expedition or exploring China on this summer’s academic enrichment trip. We look forward to welcoming a very strong cohort back to start their A Level studies in September.”
These results are typical of a King’s education. Whilst all the pupils are achieving top marks in the core subjects, they are also encouraged to widen their education and study a diverse range of subjects, such as Latin and Classics, alongside the more traditional GCSEs. In fact, where King’s School particularly excel is by identifying and nurturing individual talent to its full potential. Examples of this include: Tom Morris, who gained full marks in his Art GCSE; Millie Davis, who was captain of the GB Tap Attack team, and Bobby Cound, who also represented England at hockey during his GCSE years.
