The King's School kitchen continues to cook fresh meals for the homeless in Gloucester
The kitchen at the King’s School, together with Thomas Franks caterers and Ben Creese County Butchers, is now supplying over 200 meals each week to the Gloucester charity, Feed the Hungry. This follows the initial delivery of 600 meals in mid April for the Stroud charity, the Long Table, who were delivering meals to NHS and care workers.
Following the first delivery of fresh meals at the end of April, Hashim Norat, of Feed the Hungry, commented,
"Thank you so much for the warm welcome this morning and all your kind support. The meals were all delivered within an hour to six of our shelters in the city.
"These meals mean more than just meal. To the residents it's a show of affection and knowing someone is thinking of them and taking time out to donate, prepare, cook and deliver a freshly cooked dinner for them. It's the difference between suicidal thoughts and having a smile on their faces and you have definitely done the latter."
The most recent supply of 200 meals from the King's kitchen last Thursday was part of Thomas Franks Big Feed Project which saw over 10,000 freshly prepared meals being delivered to the most vulnerable in our society right across the country. Once again King’s Sixth Form pupils volunteered to work alongside the chefs and Ben Creese, local butcher and former King’s pupil, donated meat and dairy products, in this fight against Covid-19.
