School of Rock
For three dates in March, staff and pupils from King's Senior School brought the roof down as the School of Rock played to a packed house each night.
The reviews were glowing:
"A really great night out, the young cast were incredibly talented"
"A high energy production which makes you smile from the very outset"
"Absolutely outstanding - I have seen a few school productions and this is one of the best ever"
The School of Rock story is well known to many, with both stage and film productions. The principal character Dewey Finn (played by Ted in Year 10) has big dreams. He wants to be a rockstar enthralling the crowds in stadiums. When he is kicked out of his band and he pretends to be a teacher at a prestigious private school, Horace Green. Dewey sees the musical talents of his pupils and also their need for freedom and individuality, which their parents and teachers refuse them. They secretly form a band called School of Rock and prepare to compete in Battle of the Bands, realising the freedom that music and performing can bring.
From the cast of talented actors, to the stage crew, set designers, front of house team, lighting, technical crew and the band members, everyone came together to deliver an absolutely triumphant production.
The final word goes to the Director, Mrs Copeland-Jordan:
"The cast and crew worked exceptionally hard, putting their hearts and souls into the production and I think that was some of the magic you saw on stage. The talent we have at King’s is outstanding, but what makes the School, students and staff particularly special is that the talent is matched, if not outshone, by huge hearts; everyone cares so much"
