Junior Tennis Champions

Four of our Year 6 boys participated in the IAPS National Tennis Championships held at Rugby School on the 25th and 26th May. This is a popular event, with 262 competitors from 37 schools taking part. The boys played extremely well with Harrison ranking 8th and Arthur gaining 10th position in the U11 Boys A team rankings.

We are also very proud of Zechariah (3rd place) and Jack (6th place) who achieved 3rd place overall in the U11 Boys B Team.

Thank you to Mrs Walton who did a great deal of the 'leg work' in getting this event underway. Thanks also go to the very supportive parents and to Kristian Newman, the professional tennis coach, who coached the players prior to the Championships.

The children were a credit to the School and had a fabulous time -  in their own words:

“I was really excited that Zechariah and I came in 3rd place - I really didn't expect it. It was a VERY enjoyable day” (Jack)

“We had a fun day and it was a great opportunity to show off our skills” (Zechariah).  

“It was very nice to see my friends over the Bank Holiday weekend and a pleasure to represent the school at tennis. Even though Harry and I didn't win, we have had a time that we will always remember.” (Arthur)
